Arsenal have secured one of their most important pieces of business of the season after confirming Bukayo Saka has committed his future to the club on a deal running until 2030.
The 24-year-old, who joined the club’s Hale End academy as a young child, has put pen to paper on an extension that sporting director Andrea Berta had made a top priority. The agreement is understood to have been reached in January, with the announcement coming shortly after Saka scored in Arsenal’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Wolves.
The signing continues a broader pattern of the club tying down its core players. Saka follows Gabriel, William Saliba, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri in signing new terms, with Arsenal’s leadership intent on building a settled foundation as the title race enters its most critical phase.
Saka has endured a difficult 18 months, including a hamstring operation that disrupted last season, but has worked his way back into the heart of Mikel Arteta’s plans. He has taken on a wider role within the squad’s leadership group alongside Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes, and has also offered Arteta greater tactical flexibility by operating centrally as well as from his usual right-wing position.
Speaking on the Arsenal website upon signing, Saka said he believes the club’s biggest years are still ahead. “I believe the next few years are going to be the years that we get over the line, and we’re able to win trophies and make history for this club,” he said. “We’re back where we belong, fighting for everything.”
He added that his ambition stretches back to the very beginning of his time at the club. “I want to be able to look back and see a kid that started aged seven, eight years old on trial for Arsenal and then went the whole way to win every trophy that there is available to win. That’s the legacy I want to create.”
With Arsenal currently in the middle of a tightly contested Premier League title challenge, attention will now turn to how Saka performs across the remaining months of the campaign. The new contract ensures that whatever unfolds, he will be central to the club’s ambitions for years to come.
