A 44-year-old man from south London has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of ten sexual offences against a young child, including rape, following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team.
Kamran Khan, of Streatham High Road, Lambeth, was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court on Wednesday, 1 April, having been found guilty at the same court in January. The offences, which related to a single victim, included the rape of a girl under the age of 13 and assault by touching. The abuse took place across multiple locations, including within the child’s own home and bedroom.
Khan was arrested on 6 July 2025 after a family member reported concerns about his behaviour toward the child. The investigation was opened following that report, with officers from the Met’s specialist Child Sexual Exploitation team leading the inquiry. A family member had witnessed an interaction between Khan and the child that prompted the initial disclosure.
Despite Khan threatening to kill the child if she spoke out, she told a family member about the abuse she had suffered. Investigators subsequently seized Khan’s mobile phone, which was examined for evidence. The victim had disclosed being forced to watch videos on the device, and officers found pornographic material within his search history. Forensic and DNA evidence gathered during the investigation confirmed that sexual contact had taken place.
Detective Constable Franky Green, who worked on the case, praised the bravery of both the victim and her family in coming forward. She said Khan had exploited established connections as cover for his offending and had targeted a defenceless child. DC Green also highlighted the work of the specialist team in ensuring victims and their families felt supported and heard throughout the investigative process.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Khan has been placed on the sex offenders register and made subject to both a restraining order and a sexual harm prevention order.
