Metropolitan Police officers descended on Selhurst Road in South Norwood, south London, with multiple units responding to an incident that led to a number of arrests.
Several Metropolitan Police vehicles were deployed to Selhurst Road, SE25, near the junction close to Crystal Supermarket and Costa Coffee, as officers dealt with an unfolding incident on the busy south London street.
Photographs taken at the scene show at least four police patrol cars positioned along the road with blue lights active, as a number of individuals were seen being detained on the pavement. A crowd of bystanders gathered in the area as officers carried out their operation.
The cause of the police response has not yet been confirmed, and no official statement has been released by the Metropolitan Police at this stage. The number of people arrested and the nature of any alleged offences remain unknown.

Traffic on Selhurst Road was disrupted as emergency vehicles occupied sections of the roadway during the incident. The area, which sits close to Selhurst train station in the London Borough of Croydon, was brought to a standstill as the operation took place.
