A former Metropolitan Police volunteer cadet leader has been convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in a hotel room while in a position of trust.
Grant Fulker, aged 32, was found guilty by a jury at Southwark Crown Court today of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault. The offences took place at a Heathrow hotel between February 12 and February 13, 2024.
Fulker, who was attached to Specialist Operations as a cadet leader, had already pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to three counts of misconduct in public office. Those charges related to sending sexualised WhatsApp messages to the victim and another teenage boy while acting in his role.
The former cadet leader was arrested in February 2024 and charged shortly afterwards. An accelerated misconduct hearing in March 2024 resulted in his dismissal without notice after he indicated his intention to plead guilty to misconduct charges.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Fulker breached standards of professional behaviour related to discreditable conduct, authority, respect, and courtesy at the gross misconduct level.
Following his dismissal, he was placed on the College of Policing’s barred list, which prohibits him from employment with police forces, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
Commander Pete Stevens described Fulker’s actions as “despicable” and an abuse of trust to exploit the boys appallingly.
He expressed gratitude to the boys for reporting the incidents, which enabled the force to arrest, charge, and dismiss Fulker within a month.
The Metropolitan Police has since restructured its volunteer cadet programme, reducing cadet numbers, age range, and activities. Full inspections of all London volunteer police cadet units have been conducted since the allegations surfaced to verify policy and safeguarding compliance, Commander Stevens confirmed.
Fulker is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, February 27, 2026.
