A 33-year-old man who collapsed with fatal knife wounds inside a Hanwell public house has become the subject of a murder prosecution, with a suspect now facing court proceedings this week.
Dariusz Serafin entered a drinking establishment on Oaklands Road during the late evening of Monday, 10 February 2025, bearing serious stab injuries. Emergency services responded to the location at approximately 22:15 following reports of the wounded man’s arrival at the premises.
Paramedics from London Ambulance Service worked alongside police officers in an attempt to save Mr Serafin’s life, but medical teams were unable to prevent his death at the scene.
The fatal attack triggered a year-long investigation by homicide specialists attached to the Metropolitan Police’s Major Investigation Team, who have pursued multiple lines of enquiry since the incident.
The intensive detective work culminated in an arrest on Monday, 9 February, when officers detained Fayne Newman at an address in Humes Avenue, Hanwell. The 32-year-old, born on 8 September 1993, was taken into custody on suspicion of the killing.
Following questioning, prosecutors authorized murder charges against Newman, who has been remanded to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning, 12 February.
The court hearing will mark the beginning of criminal proceedings in the case, with magistrates expected to send the matter to a higher court for trial given the serious nature of the allegation. Murder cases in England and Wales must be heard at Crown Court, where defendants can face life imprisonment if convicted.
Metropolitan Police investigators continue to build their case surrounding the circumstances of Mr Serafin’s death and the events leading up to his fatal injuries. Detectives are appealing to members of the public who may possess relevant information about the incident or the hours preceding it.
Witnesses or anyone with knowledge about the stabbing can contact police by dialing 101 and providing the reference number CAD 7176/10FEB25 when speaking with call handlers. This unique identifier ensures information reaches the correct investigation team.
Those who prefer to remain anonymous while sharing details can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The organization does not trace calls or ask for personal details, allowing informants to provide evidence without revealing their identity to authorities.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to establish a complete timeline of events and gather evidence for prosecution.
