Londoners face significant travel disruption this weekend with the Northern line shut down across its southern section and multiple closures affecting services from February 7 to 8.
The most substantial interruption will hit Northern line passengers, with no trains running between Kennington and Morden throughout the entire weekend. The closure begins at 01:00 on Saturday, February 7, and continues through Sunday, February 8, affecting both day services and the Friday and Saturday Night Tube.
Elizabeth Line and DLR Hit by Sunday Disruptions
Elizabeth Line passengers should plan alternative routes on Sunday morning, with no trains operating between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 07:45. Once services resume, only a reduced timetable will run between Paddington and Maidenhead for the remainder of the day.
The Docklands Light Railway faces its own Sunday closure, with no service between Shadwell and Tower Gateway throughout February 8.
Overground Lines Face Varied Disruptions
The Windrush line will see no service between Canada Water and both Clapham Junction and Battersea Park on Sunday, leaving Surrey Quays station completely closed for the day.
Late-night travellers on Friday should note two service alterations: the 21:59 Mildmay line train from Stratford to Richmond terminates early at Camden Road, whilst the 23:03 Suffragette line service from Barking Riverside to Gospel Oak ends its journey at Upper Holloway instead.
Long-Term Closures Continue
Two extended engineering projects remain in effect. Barons Court station continues to skip eastbound trains until June 7, with the closure having started on January 19. Commuters should check alternative stops along the District and Piccadilly lines.
Cutty Sark DLR station remains shut until spring 2026 for complete escalator replacement works affecting all four units. Greenwich DLR station provides the nearest alternative for passengers.
The Waterloo & City line maintains its standard weekend closure pattern, operating Monday to Friday only between 06:00 and 00:30, with no Saturday, Sunday, or bank holiday service.
Planning Your Journey
Transport for London recommends passengers check the TfL app or website before travelling for real-time service updates and suggested alternative routes. Journey times may be significantly longer than usual, particularly for those traveling through affected areas.
