Cleveland Police have launched an urgent manhunt following a spate of violent incidents across Teesside that left several people seriously injured over the weekend.
Two men, aged 23 and 18, have been arrested and remain in custody for questioning. Officers are continuing to search for others believed to be part of a group of 10 to 15 young men on quadbikes who carried out attacks across Grangetown, Ormesby and Redcar.
The violence began around 10.20pm on Saturday night with reports of nuisance quadbikes at Norham Walk in Ormesby. A 53-year-old woman was knocked over near the location, sustaining an arm injury. Her Audi A3 was also damaged in the incident.
Shortly afterwards, two men aged 45 and 36 suffered serious cuts to their arms and legs after being knocked over outside Tasties takeaway on Allendale Road. A silver Volkswagen Golf was damaged during the attack.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, police responded to a stabbing at an address in Grangetown, where a window was also smashed. At 1.45am, a woman working at Goji’s Pizza Di Mare in Redcar was threatened by members of the group.
The arrests took place in the early hours of Monday morning. Police believe further victims have yet to come forward.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “These incidents will undoubtedly cause some concern for people living in Grangetown and Ormesby, and we have patrols in these areas today and for the coming days to provide a police presence for people living in these communities.”
The spokesperson added that officers are available for residents to speak with on the ground, and urged anyone who does not feel comfortable approaching police in public to call 101.
Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact Cleveland Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
