Police Hunt Two Suspects After Railway Station Knife Attack Leaves Four Injured in Surrey

British Transport Police are hunting at least two suspects who fled Egham railway station following a knife attack that left four people injured, with officers urging witnesses and residents with doorbell or dash camera footage to come forward urgently.
A man believed to be in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm and remains in police custody, but investigators say at least two other people made off from the scene before officers arrived. An increased police presence will remain in the area over coming days.
Detective Superintendent David Udomhiaye is appealing for anyone with information to contact police, emphasizing that witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers could hold crucial evidence. He specifically requested that anyone in the area with dash or doorbell camera footage make contact as quickly as possible.
Multi-Agency Emergency Response
Officers were called at around 9pm on Friday 6 February to reports of multiple people with stab injuries at the Surrey station. British Transport Police responded alongside paramedics and colleagues from Surrey Police.
Emergency services found four victims at the scene. Two men aged 20 had suffered stab injuries, while a 22-year-old victim had a slash injury to his face. An 18-year-old had been assaulted.
All four injured people have been taken to hospital. None are in a life-threatening or life-changing condition, according to police.
Isolated Incident Between Unknown Groups
Detective Superintendent Udomhiaye sought to reassure the local community while acknowledging the serious nature of the incident. He confirmed that thankfully no one has been fatally injured despite the severity of the attack.
Police are treating the violence as an isolated incident at the station involving two groups of people who they believe were not known to each other. The assessment suggests the attack was not a random assault on members of the public but rather involved specific individuals.
Officers have been working with partners overnight to establish what happened. A cordon remains in place at the station while this important investigative work is completed.
Station Disruption and Police Presence
BTP thanked local people for their patience and understanding while the cordon remains in place. Officers are working with Network Rail partners to try to keep disruption to railway services to a minimum.
The increased police presence planned for the area over coming days will allow concerned residents to speak directly to officers on patrol. Detective Superintendent Udomhiaye said anyone with concerns or information can approach those officers.
