Two boys stable in hospital after school knife attack as teenage suspect remains in police custody

Two young victims of a knife attack at a London school are now in stable condition and no longer facing life-threatening injuries, counter-terrorism detectives confirmed Wednesday.
The boys, aged 12 and 13, have shown improvement since being rushed to hospital following Tuesday’s incident at Kingsbury High School in Brent, though both remain under medical care.
A 13-year-old suspect arrested at the scene continues to be held in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder. Detectives have not yet charged the teenage boy as inquiries progress.
Counter Terrorism Policing London officers are leading the investigation and working to piece together exactly what happened during the lunchtime attack. The probe is examining all potential motives, including whether the incident could be terror-related.
Families of both victims are receiving support from specialist police officers as their sons recover in hospital. Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Flanagan acknowledged the ordeal facing the loved ones during “this incredibly difficult time.”
Enhanced police patrols have been deployed across the Brent area to provide visible reassurance to residents and school communities still reeling from Tuesday’s violence. Officers are stationed throughout the neighbourhood and available to address concerns from worried parents and locals.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or anxieties about the incident to approach uniformed officers on patrol. The increased police presence is expected to continue for several days as the investigation unfolds.
DCS Flanagan described the inquiry as “fast-paced” with multiple lines of investigation being pursued simultaneously. Counter-terrorism detectives are coordinating with local police and other agencies to build a complete picture of events.
The teenage suspect can be held for up to 24 hours before police must either charge him, release him, or apply to magistrates for an extension to continue questioning. Given the serious nature of the allegations, detectives may seek additional time to complete their interviews and gather evidence.
Kingsbury High School remained open Wednesday with additional security measures in place as students and staff processed the traumatic events. The academy has approximately 2,000 pupils across its upper and lower sites.
