A woman remains in hospital in a stable condition following a stabbing in South Croydon on Sunday morning, with police urgently seeking a suspect who remains at large.
The Metropolitan Police were called at 08:37hrs to Brighton Road following reports of a stabbing. Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, which treated the woman for multiple stab wounds before transferring her to hospital.
Social media reports suggested seven police cars with blue lights and two ambulances attended the incident, which was reported just after 8:30am. Photographs show two marked police vehicles outside a residential address opposite South Croydon bus garage.
A crime scene has been established on Brighton Road and was locked down behind a police cordon, which remained in place for the remainder of the day as enquiries continued.
A Met Police spokesperson stated: “Police were called on Sunday, 11 January at 08:37hrs to Brighton Road, Croydon following reports of a stabbing. Met officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a woman for multiple stab wounds before taking her to hospital. The woman’s condition is currently stable, however we await a full update. Urgent enquiries are on-going to locate a suspect.”
The spokesperson added: “A crime scene has been established, and will be in place for the remainder of the day. If anyone has any information about the incident, then please call 101 stating CAD1720/11Jan. You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.”
