A 22-year-old pedestrian has died following an early morning collision with a van in north London, prompting detectives to launch an urgent appeal for witnesses and footage.
The fatal incident occurred on Turkey Street in Enfield during the morning rush hour on Friday, 6 February, with emergency services mounting a major response to save the young man’s life.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention at the scene and being airlifted to hospital, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries. His family has now been notified of his death and is receiving specialist support from the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
The collision happened shortly after 6am in the EN3 area, with multiple emergency services deployed to the scene including police officers, London Ambulance Service paramedics, and the London Air Ambulance helicopter.
Medical crews worked extensively to stabilize the victim before he was transported to hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors were unable to save him despite their sustained efforts.
Investigators have confirmed that the van driver remained at the location following the collision and has been cooperating fully with police inquiries. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now leading the probe and has begun reviewing available footage from the area. Detectives are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam or CCTV recordings from Turkey Street around the time of the incident.
