The family of a 26-year-old man fatally shot in Camden has paid tribute to him following his formal identification, as homicide detectives continue to appeal for information.
Nahom Medhanie was pronounced dead at the scene on Chalton Street in the early hours of Sunday, 29 March, after officers were called to reports of gunshots shortly before 11pm the previous night. He was formally identified on Tuesday following a post-mortem examination.
In a statement released through the Metropolitan Police, his family said: “Nahom was more than a son and a brother to us and since his passing it has been the hardest days of our lives. He was funny, honest and would just light up the room with his presence and that’s what we loved most about him.” The family has asked for privacy at this time and is being supported by specialist officers.
CCTV enquiries have established that Nahom was shot multiple times while seated in a white Nissan Juke. The suspect is believed to have arrived and departed the scene on a bicycle. No arrests have been made.
The investigation is being led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting CAD 8032/28MAR, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Dash cam footage or other video material can also be submitted via the Major Incident Public Portal.
