Family rescued from house fire as 60 firefighters battle blaze

Two-storey home in Morden left destroyed after early morning incident
Around 60 firefighters tackled a major house fire in south London during the early hours of this morning, rescuing three people from the burning property.
Multiple 999 calls alerted emergency services to the blaze at a two-storey end-of-terrace home on Halesowen Road in Morden shortly after 04:00.
London Fire Brigade control officers received the first call at approximately 04:04. Crews from eight to ten fire engines brought the fire under control roughly two hours later, shortly after 06:00.
The fire affected the ground floor, first floor and roof of the property, leaving the entire house destroyed by the blaze.
One man, one woman and a child were rescued from the home and were suffering from smoke inhalation. They were treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to hospital. No further details about their condition have been released.
Firefighters deployed a 32-metre turntable ladder as a water tower to attack the flames from above, as the roof and upper parts of the building were heavily involved in the fire.
During the incident, crews identified a 15kg gas cylinder at the property. They cooled it and moved it to a safe location to reduce the risk of explosion.
Between 60 and 70 firefighters using multiple hose lines and the aerial ladder fought the fire in what was treated as a major incident for the local area. Crews came from stations including Sutton, Mitcham, Wimbledon, New Malden, Wallington, Tooting, Norbury and Clapham.
Firefighters remained at the scene after bringing the blaze under control to check for hotspots and ensure the property was safe.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established and an investigation is under way. Authorities have not indicated whether the incident is believed to be accidental or suspicious.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
