Man Stabbed On South London Street Dies In Hospital As Two Held On Suspicion Of Murder
A man in his twenties has died after being stabbed on a residential street in Battersea, with homicide detectives now leading the investigation and two suspects currently in custody.
The stabbing took place on Thessaly Road on the evening of Monday, 2 March. Emergency services were alerted shortly after 6pm, with officers arriving alongside London Ambulance Service paramedics to find the victim with serious knife wounds. He was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition but could not be saved, and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Two men, aged 28 and 38, were arrested in connection with the attack and remain in police custody as enquiries progress.
A large cordon was put in place around the scene and was still in position as specialist homicide detectives took over the investigation. The victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the case, described the incident as “deeply tragic” and confirmed his team was working to piece together the full sequence of events surrounding the attack.
Police are now making a public appeal for help, with investigators keen to hear from anyone in the area at the time. Officers are particularly seeking CCTV footage, as well as recordings from doorbell cameras or dashcams that may have captured relevant activity on or near Thessaly Road on Monday evening.
