Ten men have been arrested as part of a counter terrorism investigation into suspected Iranian state-linked surveillance targeting locations and individuals connected to the Jewish community in London.
Four men were detained in the early hours of Friday, 6 March on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service under section 3 of the National Security Act 2023. The four — one Iranian national and three dual British-Iranian nationals — were arrested at addresses in Barnet, Watford and Harrow shortly after 1am as part of a pre-planned operation led by Counter Terrorism Policing London.
The four men are aged 40, 55, 52 and 22. Searches are ongoing at multiple addresses in Barnet, Watford, Wembley and Harrow.
Six further men, aged 20, 20, 29, 39, 42 and 49, were arrested at an address in Harrow on suspicion of assisting an offender. One of the six was additionally arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. All ten men have been taken into custody.
Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, described the arrests as part of a long-running investigation and said officers had been working to disrupt suspected malign activity. She acknowledged that the Jewish community in particular may be concerned and urged the public to remain vigilant.
