Commuters face widespread service changes across London’s transport network this weekend, with several lines affected by planned engineering works.
Transport for London has issued guidance covering closures and alterations from Friday 30 January to Sunday 1 February, urging passengers to check live information via the TfL app or website before travelling.
Two long-running projects continue to affect services throughout the period. Barons Court station remains impacted by works running from Monday 19 January to Sunday 7 June, with eastbound District and Piccadilly line trains not stopping there. The station itself remains open and westbound services continue to call.
Cutty Sark DLR station is closed completely while all four escalators are replaced, a project expected to last until spring 2026. Passengers are advised to use nearby Greenwich DLR station instead.
The Waterloo & City line operates only between 6am and 12.30am Monday to Friday, with no service on Saturdays, Sundays or bank holidays.
Friday 30 January sees minimal disruption, with only the ongoing restrictions at Barons Court and Cutty Sark in place.
However, services will be significantly affected from Saturday morning. The Central line will have no service between Bethnal Green and Epping from 2am on Saturday, continuing throughout Sunday. There will also be no service between Bethnal Green and Hainault via both Woodford and Newbury Park.
On the Mildmay line, no trains will run between Camden Road and Richmond or between Camden Road and Shepherd’s Bush via West Hampstead on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Suffragette line will operate a reduced service between Gospel Oak and Barking Riverside throughout the weekend rather than the normal timetable.
Sunday 1 February brings additional disruption. The DLR will have no service between Shadwell and Tower Gateway, while the Elizabeth line will not operate between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am. From that time, a reduced service will run between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4 or Maidenhead.
The Weaver line will see no service between Liverpool Street and Cheshunt, Chingford or Enfield Town until 10.15am on Sunday. The Windrush line will have no service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace throughout the day.
TfL advises all passengers to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during the affected periods.
