Two double stabbings in different parts of London have left three men injured and prompted four arrests, with the incidents occurring within a matter of hours of one another between late Monday night and the early hours of Tuesday morning.
One man has been left with potentially life-changing injuries following an attack in Bromley, while a separate incident in Mill Hill shortly after 1am on Tuesday saw two further men rushed to hospital. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed arrests in connection with both investigations.
What happened across two boroughs
The first incident took place on Shroffold Road, close to Five Oak Mews in Bromley, shortly before 10pm on Monday, April 20. When officers arrived, they discovered two men — one in his 30s, the other in his 40s — with knife wounds. The older of the two is understood to have sustained injuries that may prove life-changing. His companion’s wounds were described as minor. A 36-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.
Just over three hours later, police were called to Moat Mount Open Space in Mill Hill at around 1.20am on Tuesday. Two men, aged 39 and 42, were found with stab wounds and taken to hospital as a priority. Their injuries have since been assessed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing. A third man, also aged 42, was treated for what was described as a minor burn, though the injury is understood not to have required medical attention.
The arrests and ongoing inquiries
Two men have been detained in connection with the Mill Hill attack. A 35-year-old was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, while a 47-year-old was held on suspicion of affray. Both remain in police custody.
In the Bromley case, the 36-year-old suspect also remains in custody as officers continue their inquiries.
Why the clustering of incidents matters
The two attacks, occurring in different corners of the capital but separated by only a few hours, underline the persistence of knife-enabled violence as a pressing concern for the Metropolitan Police. Although the incidents appear unconnected on the information released so far, the near-simultaneous timing has drawn attention to the scale of serious violent crime being recorded across London on any given night.
Neither force nor investigators have suggested a link between the two cases, and inquiries into each remain at an early stage.
