A 78-year-old woman has died following a collision with a van in east London, with the Metropolitan Police now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
The pedestrian was struck at the junction of High Road Leyton and Millais Road on Thursday 23 April, with officers called to the scene at around 09:07 BST. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died the following day, on Friday 24 April. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the driver of the silver Vauxhall minivan involved stopped at the scene and was uninjured. No arrests have been made.
Detective Sergeant Faye Cook, of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said the force was working to establish exactly what had happened. “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends who are still coming to terms with their loss,” she said. “As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we are appealing to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it — particularly if they have CCTV or dashcam footage.”
Anyone with information has been asked to contact police on 101 or the Serious Collision Investigation Unit’s dedicated witness line on 020 7960 8044, quoting reference 1603/23APR26.
