Murder Suspects to Face Court Over Fatal Hornsey Stabbing More Than Year After Attack

Two men are set to appear before magistrates tomorrow charged with murdering a young man who was fatally stabbed in north London over a year ago.
James Thompson and Dante Ashley will stand in the dock at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday following charges brought by Metropolitan Police detectives investigating the death of Jonah Ho-Shue.
The 24-year-old victim was killed on Albert Road in Hornsey during an incident on the evening of 4 January 2024. He sustained a single stab wound during the attack which claimed his life.
Thompson, aged 24, from Sanday Drive in Barnet, faces a murder charge alongside 25-year-old Ashley, who lives on Ennis Road in Haringey. Ashley is also facing an additional charge of perverting the course of justice in connection with the case.
The investigation has been ongoing for more than 13 months, with both defendants initially taken into custody in January last year shortly after the fatal stabbing occurred. Following their arrests, the pair were released under conditional bail arrangements while specialist detectives continued building their case.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command have been leading the complex investigation since the incident took place. This unit handles the most serious criminal cases across the capital, including murders and other major violent crimes.
The breakthrough in the case came this week when both men were formally charged on Tuesday, 3 February. The charges mark a significant development in what has been a lengthy investigation spanning more than a year.
Thompson’s date of birth is recorded as 16 July 2001, making him 24 years old, while Ashley was born on 18 September 2000, making him 25.
Following their court appearance tomorrow, the case will progress through the criminal justice system with further hearings expected to be scheduled. Murder cases typically move from magistrates’ courts to the Crown Court for trial, where more serious criminal matters are heard before a judge and jury.
