A 58-year-old man is set to face a murder charge at Thames Magistrates’ Court after a fatal stabbing at a residential property in east London.
Eugeniu Neamtu, of Westbury Road in Walthamstow, was charged following the death of a man in his 60s on the evening of Friday 20 February. Police were called to the street shortly before 9pm after reports of a stabbing at a property. Officers and paramedics arrived to find the victim with stab wounds to his chest, but he could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are in the process of being informed.
Four men were arrested on suspicion of murder later that same evening, two in their 20s and two in their 50s. Three of the four were subsequently released with no further action taken. Neamtu was charged and is due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 February.
The investigation remains open and is being led by homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command.
