A man has been stabbed to death outside a south London nightclub in the early hours of Easter Monday, with two others left in a critical condition and four men now in custody.
The Metropolitan Police were called at 3.54am on Monday, 6 April, to reports of a disturbance involving a group of people outside a nightclub on Ruby Street in Peckham. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found a 26-year-old man with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Two further men, both in their 20s, were also found injured at the scene. Both remain in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Later that day, four men — one aged 18 and three aged 24 — were arrested on suspicion of murder. All four remain in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time. We have already arrested four men and our investigation continues at pace.”
DCI John also acknowledged the wider impact on the local area. “We are aware of the concern that this will cause the local community,” he said, adding that residents would notice an increased police presence throughout the day.
