Teenager extradited from Dubai charged with Westminster murder of woman, 27

An 18-year-old has been charged with the murder of a young woman found stabbed at her home in central London more than a year ago, following his extradition from the United Arab Emirates.
Enzo Bettamio, of no fixed address, was flown from Dubai to the United Kingdom on Friday, 24 April after joint inquiries between the Metropolitan Police and specialist lawyers in the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and International Units. He was formally charged the following day with the murder of 27-year-old Kamonnan Thiamphanit and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 25 April.
What investigators say happened in Stanhope Place
The charge relates to a fatal stabbing in April 2024 that has been the subject of a sustained Metropolitan Police inquiry. Officers were called to a home address in Stanhope Place, W2, shortly after 8.30am on Monday, 8 April 2024, where they discovered Ms Thiamphanit — also known as Angela — with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the months since, detectives have conducted what the Met has described as a significant volume of inquiries, culminating in the extradition this week of Mr Bettamio, who was born in August 2007.

The case underlines the increasingly international character of major homicide investigations and the role played by specialist extradition lawyers in returning suspects to face British courts. Cooperation between UK authorities and counterparts in the UAE secured Mr Bettamio’s transfer onto a flight from Dubai, more than a year after the offence took place — a timeline that reflects the complexity involved in pursuing suspects who leave the country in the wake of a serious crime.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, paid tribute to Ms Thiamphanit’s family. “I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support to the investigation, throughout what has been an incredibly difficult and distressing time for them,” she said.
