Counter terrorism detectives in London have extended the custody of four men arrested under the National Security Act, securing court warrants allowing them to be held until Friday 13 March.
The four men were arrested at separate addresses across north and west London. Two — aged 40 and 55 — were detained at properties in the Barnet area, while a 52-year-old was arrested at an address in Watford and a 22-year-old was held following an arrest in Harrow.
The warrants of further detention mean all four remain in custody as Counter Terrorism Policing London continues its investigation.
Six further men connected to the inquiry have been released on bail pending further enquiries. Those six — aged 20, 20, 29, 39, 42 and 49 — were all arrested at the same location in Harrow on suspicion of assisting an offender. One of the six faced an additional arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
In total, ten men have been arrested as part of the investigation, with the operation spanning multiple addresses across the capital and surrounding areas.
The National Security Act, which came into force in 2023, created a series of new offences targeting state-sponsored espionage, foreign interference and related activity. Arrests made under the legislation are handled exclusively by specialist counter terrorism units.
No charges have been announced at this stage. Further updates are expected as the custody deadlines approach later this week.
